Error msg for Export .mdl (Missing MakeMDL)

Good Morning Paul,
Yes, today UK is not so far away.
I was wondering about the time indicated in the forum.
When I see your perfect pictures, I can hear the sound. Especially the detail on the wings witch shows the textile surface. Normaly designer select a large spectacular airliner. But small aircrafts have a special caracter.
I wish a lucky continuation.
Kind regards Otto

After klicking File/Export/Flight Sim .mdl
the error message apears.
The 3DC ….requires that Microsofts’MakeMDL’… At the mentionned Website is nothing to find. I copied the MakeMdl.exe from SDK2004. Then the file makemdl.parts.xml was missing. After copying this file. No error message was to see. But also no file .mdl was created.
Export .x creat a file but it is not possible to compile it with xTomdl.exe (a lot of errors).
There is also a difference to the manual Creating objects for FSX from 3DC3.pdf.
In the manual is to reed: Select Export/File and Select [b:txb5usqm]Flight Sim X[/b:txb5usqm](.MDL)
In the drop down menu stands:Microsoft Simulator Aircraft (.mdl)
Version 8.2 3DC Pro and Plugin from www31.brinkster.com/decapod
In the meantime I deinstalled V 8.2 and installed V 8.1.7 including Plugins
The function Export mdl does not cry for Makemdl but no files are created.

Perhaps the error message during installation could be the problem.
I try to translate because de msg is in german.
Error 1931.
The windwos installer can’t the system file C:Windowssystem32comctl32.dll not actualis, because this file is protected from Windows. You should perhaps actualise XP.
But I have alwaise all ugrade and updates.
XP SP3
Whats wrong. Kind regards Otto

Hi Otto,

Firstly, don’t use the old .MDL export – that was for FS2002.

For FSX, first read these tutorials

If you still have problems, post again here.
If you want to export to FS2004, also post here <!– s:) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!– s:) –>

Dear Paul,
Thank your for the answer.
In the mentionned link …86363 I could see, that the drop down list for export shows Flight SimX.
In my drop down list I find only Microsoft Fligt Simulator Aircraft (.mdl)or (.bgl)
[IMG:left]http://www.lorbass.ch/images/3DC Export drop.bmp[/IMG]
Is perhaps the Version PRO needed? In the specification list of amabilisproducts is this not mentionned.
Kind regards Otto

Correct – to use any plugins not written by Amabilis you require the PRO version.

However for FS2004, you can use the DirectX .X export then run MakeMDL to convert it to a .MDL file.

Thank you Paul for the quick answer.

Du to the unclear specification I bought the wrong Version to develope for FSX.

Where can I upgrade my PLUS Version to PRO?

And could you insist that amabilis correct or complet the specification to prevent that other ‘customers’ make the same error?
Kind regards Otto

The FSX exporter is not an Amabilis product, I wrote it privately (along with the other FSX helper plugins)
I’m quite sure I do state that the pro version is needed on the plugin download.

Amabilis also state that to use user plugins and scripts the pro version is needed.

I think there is an upgrade option on the web page where you purchaced 3DC.

Hallo Paul,
Thank you again for your help. In the meantime I feel like Sherlok Holmes. After a lot of investigation I will find the truth.
I’ll have a look again for an upgrade.
Kind regards Otto

Hi Otto,
There is a link on this page that seems to work.

Once you get it working, drop me a line – there are not many FSX modellers yet but we have managed to get past all problems we’ve had so far.

Failing that – just make the model and send it to me and I can convert it to a MDL for you <!– s:) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!– s:) –>

Hello Paul,
It is verry kind of you, to take the time to help. I allready was on the way to look for an other Software.
I followed the mentionned link and ordered the upgrade wich was imediatly confirmed by eMail with a new Keycode. After entering the new one I had to confirme that I’m owner of an old version by entering the PLUS Keycode.
And surprising, I have all Exports in the drop down list. And surprising again, the FSX exprot (.mdl) works as mentionned in the tutorial.
Nevertheless, thanks for your offer to compile my files.

Kind regards
Otto

by the way, in witch country are you, the time seems to be from far away to Switzerland.

I’m not too far away in the UK.

I was working on a new FSX aircraft model today.
