DirectX Importer

I’m stumped for the moment. I tried a lot of different things with no success. There’s something about the X file, but I can’t quite figure it out YET. Unfotunately, I have to leave now.

I’m having problems with importing direct x models. The textures will not import.
Does anybody know anything about the direct x importer and the problem I am having.

If I recall correctly the DirectX importer only imports textures that are BMPs. I’m not 100% certain though.

That may well be the problem.
The textures in these files are DDS

Is it possible to add DDS textures in the importer?
I can supply a file if you need it.

As a work around, what you can do, is change the references in your ‘x’ file from ‘DDS’ to ‘BMP’ and then save your DDS files as BMP files and then import.

Of course!

While on the subject of importing and exporting, is it possible for you to create them for the AC3D.
I can supply you with some Python code if that helps.

Just tried this and it didn’t work.
It might be the DDS file I’ll try again.
If it does not work I’ll send you the file to look at.

[EDIT] It’s not working in 8.2, I’ll try 7.1.2

No luck with 7.1.2 either.

Strange. Are the files with the X file?

So, you replaced ‘file.DDS’ with ‘file.BMP’ in the x file, and then converted the DDS files to BMP files and saved them in the same folder as the X file? That SHOULD work. I can’t figure out why it wouldn’t.

I’ve just sent you all the files.

I’ll try one more thing.

The x file is not in the same folder as the textures and this may be a problem if it works.
They normally need to stay in their own folders.

Every file is now in the same folder and still not working.

I haven’t received the files yet.

I sent them to support2

OK.
It seems to be a problem with the actual texture files themselves.
I’ve Zipped up a new set and sending them now.
I can see some textures, but not the main ones.
It looks like I can only see texture fills.

I have it now. But, sorry to say I am away again for a few days. I’ll try to get to it before I leave, but if not… Sorry!!!
