Hi George,
I did not mean to insult. I did not propose
you to buy anything.
Anyway, I think any kind of reflection
mapping (even Povray’s) can give you
what you need — HDRI only takes really
long to render.
So, make your surface shiny and give it
something to reflect — you might get
surprised how well it can turn out.

This ship i thought i whould give it more detail than the last ship i did.
this was rendered using HDRI MAPS with no light.

I really, really, like the lighting on this one Kirk. Very realistic to me. Textures are outstanding as usual. You are going to have to give me the low-down on this HDRI MAPS. Great work.

well that’s just lovely. andnbsp; The dagger too. andnbsp; The link looks interesting too. andnbsp; If I understood it, could I coax any renderer to do HDRI, or do I need Carrara?

Cinema 4d does it as well and 3ds max does too.

Hmmmm… sounds very interesting, and I love the results, but I’m no programmer, and I can usually figure out POV to some degree, but I’m thinking this might still be alittle out of my league. I’m still very impressed with the results. Keep up the good work everyone!!!!

I just lost my post. andnbsp;Try again.
I’m not about to spend money for lightwave as I have other problems to finance.
I did find some python code to make Blender to HRT (still can’t remember the acronym). andnbsp;Looked easy to convert whenever someone gets inspired and energetic. andnbsp; There’s also a POV patch:

<!– m –><a class="postlink" href="http://martial.rameaux.free.fr/mael/">http://martial.rameaux.free.fr/mael/</a><!– m –>
to do it. andnbsp;It’s not really on my personal path at the moment, but looks doable, though you would have to export and get into the pov code. andnbsp;
