Creating a md2 model

That gives me a bit of a clue about it. I’m right in the middle of a development phase. I’ll be checking each 3DC feature, including the MD2 export before I release the final version. Unfortunately, it may still be a while.

Hello, here is my little issue.

Im in the process of making a simple character for a game in OpenGL. The model needs to be md2 but I’m encountering some problems.

I’ve been able to export an object to directx but it doesnt work with md2. In some old tutorials I’ve read it says that I should right click on the object and choose md2 from the export object option, the problem is that it isn’t there.

I’ve also tried to export through the export option in the menu at the top with little success.

Would you mind giving me some assistance in this matter?

The object I was trying to export was a blocky sphere with a texture created for it.

To export an MD2 model, you need to select the object you want to export and then choose ‘Export-andgt;MD2’ from the file menu. That should be all that is required.

I’ll make a note to update the documentation.

I’m clearly missing something because i can’t get it to work. Either nothing is created or nothing is created and the program gets a fatal error.

Maybe it is buggy. I’ll have to take a look.

You could try this version of 3DC. I’m not sure if the MD2 exporter was updated in it or not: [img:1bmdqtow]http://www.3DC.com/downloads/3DC7120.zip[/img:1bmdqtow]

So, you got to the point of seeing the MD2 export options screen?

Yes, I get to the export options screen. But when I press ok after I have filled in the specs nothing really happens. The window closes down, but nothing is saved.

Edit:Still can’t export a simple textured box, less alone a whole character. When I try to export him with bones attached the export window doesnt even show up. I did notice some complaint from the comp about some .dll file that was protected by Windows, dunno if it has anything to do with this.
