I solved my problem. It was operator error – confusion over the -trans option and which version of the ace file was which. <!– s:( –><!– s:( –>
I am trying to add translucent windows to a caboose model but can’t seem to get translucency to appear in MSTS although it looks fine in 3DC. I’ve tried setting translucency to 1 and 2 in 3DC and run makeace on a tga containing 50% gray areas both with and without -trans. Does anyone know what shader name should appear in the .s file to create translucency? Could the problem be that the objects I want to make translucent require translucency on all faces?

Richard andamp; Larry,
Make sure you are upgraded to at least version 5 of 3dCP. andnbsp;I had all kinds of trouble with transparencies until I upgraded to ver 5.0.4 (?) and have had NONE at all since. andnbsp;I don’t have to change any translucency values or anything now. andnbsp; All I do is apply the textures and put into Sim.

All I can suggest is to send me the model and I’ll have a look (<!– e –>richard@amabilis.com<!– e –>)

I haven’t tried the wizard yet. I planned to wrap this model up and try the wizard on my next one.
Larry
Just the faces that need to be translucent need a Translucent value.
Is this being done with the TrainSim wizard or without?
