There isn’t a hugh demand for locomotives and rolling
stock. The big demand is on routes and activities. I did
this little adventure in the hopes to pay some bills
untill the routes are finished.
I would say the hardest part of modeling the
locomotives are keeping the poly count down. Unlike a
racing sim where you may have 43 cars max, a train can
have in the area of 60+ cars with it, so polys are a big
consideration.
I would say the biggest pain in the *ss is everything
else that you have to do for it. Sound files, cabview
animations, engine files, ect.ect. The above loco has
over 60 files that go with it to make it a complete
product.
The real question is:
Do you love trains enough to make it through the whole
process?
Just to give you an idea of time frame, I’ve been working
on these GP20’s for around 2 months, between 10 and
16 hours a day, with a day a week off for rest and
family.
Back to work I go….. andnbsp; <!– s:) –><!– s:) –>

3 of these will be included with the Cajon Pass Route by
3D Train Stuff, with custom cabviews and sounds.
The reason for this shameless promotion….. Everything
was built with 3DC Pro, I say, andquot;Death to GMAXandquot;

Holy crap, man, that is the BEST cabview I’ve ever seen! andnbsp;I have been planning my SD70 (spartan cab) cabview to be done in 3DC and POVRay, and your cab there is of the quality I hoped mine could achieve. andnbsp;I now know that my high expectations are possible! <!– s:-) –><!– s:-) –> andnbsp;I remember thinking that the shot you posted of it before was amazing, but this beats it hands down! andnbsp;Any chance we could get a slightly larger picture of it?

I’ve been wondering how much work goes into creating the train models? And do you see much of a demand for them on the internet? I see that you’re selling your work.
