Does anyone know of a quick way to stop POVray from rendering both sides of a face, causing them to interfere?

Paul,
I’ve never had this particular problem, but you may be able to find some answers in the following section of the Pov Help files; Section ‘6.5.6 Constructive Solid Geometry’. And also; Section ‘6.5.6.1 Inside and Outside’. These might be a starting point to solving your problem, but I have not seen any Pov ‘options’ that allow you to tell it to render one or two sided faces. I believe this will have to be accomplished with code.
Hope this helps,
Les

Paul,
You may also want to look at Pov Help Section; ‘6.7.9 Interior Texture’ This may be closer to what you need, but I’m not sure.

Thanks Les – doesn’t seem to quite cover what I need to do.
… I think it just means I need to read a lot more of the POVray manual to get a better understanding of it’s workings.
