axis of origin

Quick question, in lieu of how it was manipulated in 3D Canvas, how does 3D Crafter move the axis of origin? In 3DC I would move it by using the shift tool, constrain the x and z axis and move the axis of origin up and down holding down the Ctrl key. Apparently not so in 3D Crafter? The whole cube is moving up and down and the axis stays glued to the lower right corner. Need help, thanks.

PS Which forums are we suppose to be using? 3d Crafter points to the old forum, the website points to this one. Pretty confusing.

In an attempt to look like I know what I’m talking about (which isn’t often), I think what you want, Rich, is the “Pivot Point”. The third little icon to the left of the light bulb on the tool bar is the “Show Group Pivot Points”. This, in conjunction with the shift tool, may do what you are looking for. (I hope!)

Thanks Andrew! Sure seems similar to what we used to do in the old Canvas program but I\\\’m kinda like you where I\\\’m not exactly sure either. I\\\’ll know when I export though. But sure looks awful similar but I don\\\’t understand the terminology being used here. Axis of origin, I thought, was simply a word for setting the unit so it sits on the ground. I guess what\\\’s throwing me is what looks like the axis of each primitive sitting in the lower right corner. But thanks! I tried searching the docs and couldn\\\’t find anything of it. – Rich

Shapes are positioned relative to the Group Origin (axis) that contains the shape.
Groups have origins that are positioned relative to the parent group.

A lot of the keyboard and mouse functions have changed in 3DCrafter, it takes quite a bit of getting used to.
