Anyone using 2048 textures for MSTS?

Hey – I got it working. <!– s:) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!– s:) –> <!– s:) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!– s:) –> AceIt was the answer. I had tried to convert the textures with MakeAce without any luck but AceIt did great.

My thanks to wmalder and to Thomas Pearce who emailed me.

Bill

Have been experimenting with using a 2048 texture map but am having one problem; I can’t export the main texture to MSTS. I am using two texture maps – one is a 256 with wheels etc and the other is the 2048 with the body. The 256 exports as an .ACE file but the 2048 doesn’t. Shape viewer shows the car but with only the trucks textured.

Am using the MSTS Wizard plug-in which appears to go smoothly and does not give any problem message.

I know MSTS will accept it because there are several guys at Elvas Tower that do it, and one in particular that does it with 3DC. I am going to send him an email but figure I might get more varied and faster answers here.

Am using 3DC 7.1.0.0 Pro and MSTS with the MS patch but without Bin. Could it be I only need to install MSTS Bin?

Thanks in advance for any help, Bill

My experience is that 3DC doesn’t convert all textures (My last export had 4 textures only 2 of which were converted on the first export, I don’t know why). It hasn’t been a problem for me so far as I tend to do the conversions outside of 3DC. If you need to make 2048×2048 ace textures I can suggest AceIt as it will do that conversion.

Sorry, there is a bug in the Train Simulator Wizard that caused this. A new version will be available in a few days.

Thank You that’ll be really convenient. I do have a question though, how do you handle DXT versus Ace with transparency etc.
