any upcoming contests? i need something to do. plus i like having the challenge. anyway just wondering becasue it has been a while.

Yes indeed. There will be a new contest starting shortly. If you want to get a head start it will be to create a character or character ‘part’ (say a head, hand, torso etc) using subdivision surfaces (auto smoothing).

subdivision surfaces? so in other words one primitive with divide and smooth or can we use multiple pieces, boolean operations, etc. what is the projected date of the release of the rules?
