Another problem (Zooming)

I send an email to curiouslabs about this problem. I hope they can help tracking this problem down.

Can you not scale the object up and then scale it back afterwards ? [i:vi6lgrl4]Scale by [/i:vi6lgrl4]100, work on it then [i:vi6lgrl4]scale by[/i:vi6lgrl4] 0.01 ?

There is a tutorial on scaling that will explain what you need to know. And no, you don’t need to use another program to scale the parts.

Richard

The problem is that these objects are composed from several parts and scaling them will mess the whole object up.
I have heard that this will needing the use of another program to scale up without destroying the integrity of the object parts.

After successfully fixing my troubles I have now another problem:
I have exported a body part from Poser 4 to work in 3DC with it. The problem is that these part are several objects and they are imported so small. (This is caused by the poser export and have to keep its size else it will get to big if it is reimported in Poser 4) My problem is to find a possibility to zoom the view (not the object) for that I can get on it’s meshes.

[glow=red,2,300]posted in wrong place – but it might help andnbsp;:D [/glow]

This is as I understand it (assuming this is what you want <!– s:) –><!– s:) –> )

To select a group of object you ctrl+alt left click on the topmost object in the group that you want.

For example in my pic if you wanted to select all the objects you would ctrl+alt left click on the ‘whiteCube’.

If you only wanted the group with the pinkCube and the blueCube you would ctrl+alt left click the pinkCube.

Easy up to now ?

To copy the selected group all you have to do is go to edit/copy or ctrl+c. This can involve copying a lot of information to the clipboard – so give your system a few seconds to think about it…. We all know how stable windows is when you ask it to do too much …. <!– s:P –><!– s:P –>

Edit/paste (ctrl+v) to paste the copy

I could be wrong …..

Does not work. Get unrecoverable error. And before I get only 2 marked objects after CTRL+ALT+Left Click.

If you group all the parts together then you can scale them together (about 80% sure) – be right back

Yep – just checked, group your objects together (nb group) then alt/ctrl click one which will select them all. Riight click – Scale by, work. Reverse all this to get back to the andquot;rightandquot; size <!– s:) –><!– s:) –>

Another programme – there are no other programmes ;D

([size=1:1w0hocv0]wow – just noticed – three stars/full member – feel like I am working a fast food chain andnbsp;;)[/size:1w0hocv0]

Don’t forget to let us see it…….

Can you reproduce the error and if so could you send me the model? (<!– e –>richard@amabilis.com<!– e –>) It could be a driver issue or it could be a 3DC issue. If I have the model and info about your system (video card/windows version etc.) I can probably tell you.

The ctrl-alt-select has always worked in my experience.

Richard

Interesting is this. After CTRL+ALT+Left Click and its resulting crash I had a copy of the first selected object on the screen after restoring the model.

It happens with each object.

No the copy was done by the crash and was not intended! ;D
The problem is to group everything in a very small object containing lots of subobjects. The marking of all subobjectts is working but then 3DC is crashing with a page fault error.

Seravajan

A couple of ideas and a question or two….

Can poser export in another 3dc format ?

Could you scale up in poser – expot to 3dc – export back to poser and scale down ?

andquot; The problem is to group everything in a very small object containing lots of subobjectsandquot; – how many sub-objects ?

With your other problem (about 3dc not reinstalling ?) could it be your system needs a bit of a backup and reinstall.

I know Richard has offered to run the model on his system, but if you want I could also have a look ?

The only data format both programs can read is the Waveform *.obj and it is true that poser makes so little exports. I have tried it with other modeling programs too.
The only thing was till now to load the poser export in a special (free) program who can scale it up in few seconds then I import it into 3DC. After working I use the same program to scale down again. This way works except for Poser morphs.

Seravajan

(I have seen your posting in another topic)
If 3DC is doubling the faces due triangulation then it will never work with Poser. <!– s:( –><!– s:( –>

I hope Richard will look into this.

Seravajan

Standard export and import is working fine. Only the morph target import in Poser does not work.

We have to compare a file before importing into 3DC and then after exporting it out again.
