Animations have me baffled! Help…

Hi all,
I am still lost when it comes to animating parts. Is there a bare bones, rock bottom tutorial out there on how to animate a spout on a water tank or how to animate a windmill???
I need help with the absolute basic essentials.
I haven’t got a clue as to what’s going on in animating.
