Adding to object library

The material/object library drop-down list only show the libraries that are in the same folder as the current library. So if you add a library to a new location where there are no other libraries you will only see the new library.

Hello,
I really didn’t want to ask this because it’s probably a lack of knowledge of files. I’m trying to add to the objects library but have folders listed and no files to add. I get the object on the scene, but can’t add it.

::)Hello Les,
andnbsp;Thank you, I’m able to get some of the files. For some reason, for instance, I download the andquot;marble andquot; folder, when I click on it nothing appears, as if the folder is empty. Like the caption above. I have a folder named andquot;marble’, but when clicked, noyhing is there. Going to the folder out of 3DC the files are ther,Just not on 3DC. Make any sense?

KB,
If you want to add to an exsisting library, click on the andquot;Openandquot; button on the object libraries window, look in andquot;Program Files3DCMediaObjectsandquot; folder and open one of the libraries.

Next, right-click on the object and select andquot;Add to object libraryandquot; from the menu, or click the Add To Object Library button on the object library panel.

To create a new object library, do the same as above, but instead of selecting a library to open, type in a name for your new library, and click andquot;OKandquot;. This will create a new object library which you can add objects to.

Add objects as per instructions in 2nd paragraph.

Hope this helps…. <!– s:) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!– s:) –>

Hello Les andamp; Alan,
andnbsp;Just wanted to tell both of you how much I like your works and info to all, it’s a big help!
andnbsp;I’m convinced it’s pilot error but I may try the repair at 2-3 am when there are less people around.
andnbsp;Right now when I enter a new file to either material or objects library the others dissapear off the list.
andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp;Thank you, KB

If the andquot;marble folderandquot; you downloaded is from amabilis then it is a texture folder not an object folder. Just stick it into the texture folder inside media (inside 3DC in program files)(I think)

KB,
I’ve never had this problem. It sounds like 3DC is just not seeing the files or something. You could try running the andquot;Repairandquot; function on the 3DC installation, but I don’t know if that would be a solution to the problem. Maybe you should ask Richard to be sure.

Sorry I couldn’t be more help…. <!– s:( –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_sad.gif" alt=":(" title="Sad" /><!– s:( –>
