8.1.3 : cannot access to primitive options on a duplicate

I understand what you are saying.

I’ll move this to the ‘outstanding issues’ section and if I can think of a way to help this I will.

I can see a circumstance in the future where it will be possible to re-implement this.

Duplicate a primitive shape.

Primitive options (longitude, latitude, whatever according to the type of primitive) cannot be changed by ctrl clicking the shape.

Sorry, but unfortunately this is by design. I don’t have any option on this one. The new ‘duplicate’/’copy’ functions all result in simple ‘shapes’ as a result. Only the originals retain layers etc.

Please read my post again.

I’m not talking about layers I’m talking about primitive options.

I’ve attached an example w/ 7.1.2.

Yes, I understand. I wasn’t clear. Only the ‘shape’ itself is copied with duplicate. No other attributes are copied. Even the source type is unavailable. It’s a new ‘feature’ of 3DC 8. Sorry!

… I would be suprised that it could not be changed.
3DC 8.1 is not a downgrade of 7.1.2 <!– s:) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!– s:) –> …

I’m not sure if it can be changed or not. Certainly there would be work involved. It would be very limited even if I did change it, I think.

Out of curiousity, why would one need to duplicate simple primitives and then change the parameters of them later? Am I missing something? Something that makes it worth the trouble of trying to change this?

For example:
Duplicate a cylinder which will be in a given position related to the orginal cylinder, thanks to the duplication parameters. Then I want the cloned cylinder to have a different number of faces and a small size change (the second part, the small resize, can be done in any 3DC version).
This especially convenient when dealing with small shapes.

In 8.1 I need to create the 2nd cylinder, change the number of faces, resize it to make it small (for my example) and rotate it. Then I have to adjust it according the 1st cylinder position which may not be too easy.
