5.5 Discussion Thread (was: Problem with 5.5)

Sorted and happy now <!– s:-) –><!– s:-) –> Thanks for all the help Richard.

Hi Richard,

Thanks for managing to get it done over the weekend…

1. I downloaded v5.5 this afternoon and tried to import some of my MSTS models made in 5.0.8 – The models imported OK, but were all white.

When I tried to select the Targa files, I got an error message that the Targa file could not be read, possibly corrupt.

This happened on 5 different .tga files I tried and which had all worked previously.

2. A tender I built in 5.0.8 and exported via the Wizard appears OK in the Activity Editor, but in MSTS appears floating with no wheels? The wheels originally were on a .tga file, so I changed them with modelled/spoked wheels and a .bmp texture. However still no wheels in MSTS.

Have I mentioned lately that I REALLY hate Windows Installer? It works great on the first install, and looks great, but upgrading is a pain in the butt (for me especially).

Richard

Just to let everyone know that the problem with my wheel-less tender was not a 3DC problem, but a problem with the idiot driving my keyboard. :'(

I had inadvertently edited a line out of a .wag file (the one with the Wheelradius – hence a radius of 0 and no wheels).

I have advised Richard directly and thanked him for all the effort he has put into this program and those who use (mis-use?) it.

Mike.

OK, I just uninstalled again, and deleted the 3DC folder in Program Files this time, and it converted my model a lot better this time. Still getting the 404 fault on trying to upgrade, but it seems to export to .S file anyway.

Ian,

Are you still getting the 404 error? I just tried it and it seems OK. What web browser are you running by the way?

Richard

I have just installed v5.5 (using the installer to uninstall 4.24 as I have not had much luck installing any of the v5 series) and then I tried to get the Pro upgrade and I just get a 404 page not found error <!– s:-( –><!– s:-( –>

Also, I tried loading a wagon I have been working on with 4.24 and all I see are two wheels and two buffers. The rest of the objects appear in the heirachy panel, and when I click on them the bounding boxes light up on the displays, but some of them are in very odd positions that they may have been in at some stage of the construction process. All very odd.

For Les Patterson,

The smoke is as generated in MSTS, that is a MSTS screen shot.

Mike.

Mike,
Is your smoke created in 3DC or MSTS?
Les

I have snipped away a few topics relating to this since this turned out to be a non-issue.

Richard

Ian,

I have set up a temporary download location for 5.5 for you. I sent its location to your hotmail account.

Did you notice that Mike fixed his TGA problem by uninstalling, deleting the 3DC folder, then re-installing? It sounds like the same problem you were/are having.

Richard

I am using IE5. The links to the forums, etc, from the help menu are working OK.

I have had problems before, such as when train-sim.com moved servers. I suspect there is a router somewhere in Luxembourg that just will not go looking for a new address. When I eventually found a URL to a specific page with a port number specified, it got there, and seemed to force the router to update its address list. I then started getting to the main site again.
Can you let me have a URL to somewhere at amabilisplus that includes a port number so I can try this please?
