3DC under Vista

Hi Richard,

I have been testing v6.6.15.6 on my Vista machine again, and have discovered that the 4 view option does actually work, however, after going to the View Selection menu and selecting the 4 View option, you MUST wait for it to complete. on my PC this took over 3 minutes before the 4 views appeared and the View Selection menu window disappeared.

Clicking the mouse anywhere during this process and you end up with a 3DC (not responding) message and it eventually crashes.

I have also found that if you go to Load and load a model made in an early version of 3DC then it advises it is converting the model, but sometimes fails during this process. However on restart, the model has apparently been converted and works OK.

Nvidia Gforce 7600GT 256 meg RAM video card

System dual-boots in either Vista or XP

I have had 3DC Pro for many years now, however since upgrading to Vista I have found it to be unusable.

It installed OK, but when I go to the View menu and select the 4 view option the program locks up and crashes. This is while using v6.6.15.6 – I have seen suggestions that under Vista, 3DC must be run with UAC turned on. I tried this, but got the same problem.

Is it worth upgrading to v7 or does this have the same problems with the View options and with UAC (I use this on a development machine and frankly find that UAC is just too much bother).

Mike.

I haven’t any problems with multi-view with Vista, but it has been reported by at least one other person. My suspicion is that it is drivers, but I can’t confirm it.

Whether you need UAC on or not depends on what you have installed on your system. I don’t need it on with my development system. If 3DC 6.6 runs at all with UAC off, then you don’t need it on.

I still cannot get any startup at all. Just an unkown error message.
