3DC 7.1.2/Povray 3.6

I have no clue what the problems is. I am running XP sp3 instead of Vista. I can export the file and render it in povray, but I can’t get it to render within 3DC no matter what I do. It doesn’t even work when raytracing a snapshot. I get no error messages or message boxes of anykind. It just sits there. But don’t worry over it too much. I know it’s not a bug with 3DC. It’s something screwy with my system. I’ll figure out what it is sooner or later. I was just hoping someone had encountered this before and had a quick fix.

First off, I have used povray with 3DC for several years without any problems. Now I have uninstalled 7.1.1 and installed 7.1.2 After the install I got a ‘not configured correctly’ error when I tried to use povray. Worked correctly before the upgrade. I have checked the settings in povray and they are correct. Anyway I have uninstalled both programs and reinstalled multiple times, and it still does not work. When I click on the povray icon, I no longer get the error message. It starts up like normal and the status bar moves about halfway, then everything stops and the render never begins. I have left it sitting for several hours but nothing else ever happens. Task manager shows the povray exe. running. Is there some registry setting that could be causing this problem. I have also tried going back to the previous version of 3DC, but with the same results. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am lost without my renderer.

I just tried this and had no problems. I did a complete re-install of Vista recently, so this was entirely fresh.

What I did was I turned of script restrictions as usual, but I also did a test render in POVRay and said ‘don’t show this again’ to all message boxes that were displayed. Maybe that’s the issue.
